Deployed Soldier Bonds With Puppy In Syria And Works Relentlessly To Bring Her Home

Despite the depictions in popular movies, soldiers are interested in more things than fighting the enemy and destroying things around them. Soldiers also provide aid to non-combatants living in warzones.

We commonly picture this aid benefitting people. But one soldier in Syria showed the same compassion for a four-legged non-combatant that he would have for one walking on two feet, as was reported.

United States Army Specialist Tyler Mosely was stationed in Syria in 2018. Mosely was assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group. Mosely admits he found the time lonely after being separated from his wife and home for such a long period of time.

It is no surprise that he made a close connection in an unexpected place. An explosives technician working near to Mosely was going about his work searching for explosive devices when he discovered two puppies.

One of the puppies was dead. The other puppy clung to life but was in need of immediate care.

The technician brought the sick puppy to base with him. It was not long before a bond was established between the puppy and Specialist Mosely. Mosely said the dog just ran in his direction and began licking him. He described the dog as short, fat, and loveable.

Mosely spent all the time he could giving care to the dog. His captain would look after the pup during the daytime hours but Mosely was the dog’s sole caregiver during the nighttime hours. Mosley decided to name the puppy Daisy.

Mosely explained to a media source he fed the dog the same Vienna sausages and Spam that soldiers eat on a daily basis. He found a turkey cage around the base that he converted into a home for the dog.

Mosely said the dog would cry each time he left for work. And then the time came that he was scheduled to return home to America. Mosely said his only desire was to bring Daisy home with him. He did not want to leave her in such a bad place.

Soldier reunites with dog he rescued in Syria

Specialist Tyler Mosley met Daisy while he was serving our country in Syria. Thanks to a Delta Air Lines flight from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to Destin – Fort Walton Beach Airport they are together again!

Once at home, Mosely contacted the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.) International. He wanted their help at adopting Daisy. Mosely was ecstatic to learn they would help him.

It was not long before Daisy was flying from Syria to Iraq. The dog then made stops in German and New York before stopping at Destin-Fort Walton Beach where Mosely awaited her.

Mosely held the dog close to him after taking her from the cage. He told the dog he missed her and promised to give her all the love she deserved.
